Tips and Tricks for Starting a Fashion Blog

Fashion bloggers get a reputation for being shallow and only concerned with appearances. But they’re trendsetters, using their art to help young people develop a positive body image. Through affiliate links, social media, and helping sell their favorite products, they can make their own profitable brand, too.

But seeing some of the incredibly talented people out there with stunning blogs can be intimidating for those just starting out. Fortunately, our tips and tricks for starting a fashion blog will help you get started.

Tips and Tricks for Starting a Fashion Blog

Develop Your Style

If you don’t have a sense of your personal style, it’ll be hard to find your voice as a fashion blogger. Before you start scoping out how to start your fashion blog, take the time to solidify your style. Some ways you can do this include:

  • Looking at the clothes you already wear and noticing patterns in colors, cuts, and accessories

  • Taking a look at what is coming out of fashion week, your favorite design firms, and other fashion blogs

  • Experimenting with different styles and aesthetics (don’t be afraid to mix and match)

  • Trying out new stores and vendors

Try to have a clear vision as you explore your sense of style. Remember, the point isn’t to care what other people think or to purposely reject trends. It’s to know who you are so you can talk about it.

Be Consistent

You can be the most brilliant writer with the most fascinating insights about fashion. Still, without a consistent post schedule, you will have trouble keeping readers. A good blog updates a minimum of two times a week, but you would benefit from making a post daily. The key is finding a schedule you can realistically maintain with your lifestyle. Search engines will like your page more that way.

Don’t Forget Images

Users are more likely to click on and linger on a webpage with visually appealing images. This is especially important for an industry as aesthetically focused as fashion. Invest in your images. Take time to get a good camera or hire a good photographer. Fashion is about beauty, so let your readers see that as soon as they click on your page.
